Term 2 Curriculum
Religion
In Religion this term we will be learning that prayer helps believers to follow the teachings of Jesus and to live according to God’s plan. We will be recognising ways in which believers pray alone and with others using words, music, actions, silence, symbols and nature. Students will be able to describe ways in which believers pray together during special celebrations and rituals that mark important times in the lives of believers and in the Church year.
Science
In Science, we will be investigating animal habitats. Our main focus will be on ocean and rainforest habitats. We will also explore the needs of living things.
Health
In Health, we will be investigating healthy eating habits and what makes a healthy lunchbox.
English
In English we will continue to build the student’s oral language skills, developing phonological awareness, reading and comprehension skills and developing knowledge of letter sound relationships. Sight-words/Popcorn Words will continue to be introduced and practiced to assist with their guided reading sessions.
Mathematics
In Mathematics we will be working on the numbers 1-10 by recognising them as written words. Children are introduced to common 3D shapes and grouping objects according to various criteria, not just by colour.
