We Are Learning-:
Letter D d
Sight words- I, Can
Word families- og (dog, fog,log)
Sight words are a list of words that are commonly used in reading and writing. They form a high percentage of words we use. Many are not able to be sound out, hence the term, sight words-words to be recognised by quickly on sight. At prep we refer to them as Popcorn words because we need to say them as quickly as corn popping!
Each week, children are  given new words which we practice daily
our success criteria are lists of 5 words. When a child can say each sight word (a 5 second time limit per word), they are able to move onto the next set of words. In this way, each child successfully progresses at their own rate.

The Week That Was

Well we have all survived our first week in Prep White!

The children are getting into the routine of life at big school and becoming familiar with where everything is. They have begun working in small groups and are learning that they must stay with that activity.  We went for a tour of the school and visited areas that they will be using -the hall, music room,

library and undercover area. Contrary to what children told you, we only visited the office, they were not sent there! We have practised where they will line up on Monday morning. As you face the tuckshop we sit on the ground in the First line to the left of the tuckshop.  Pick up will be from the seats just beside where we sit in the morning.

Enjoy your long weekend.
