Week 2
This week we are continuing with week 1's sight word ( with an extra word), letter and word family.
Sight words: I, can, the
Word family: og (dog, fog,log,frog)
Letter: Dd
Number: Prep success criteria for number/counting is to be able to count forwards to 10 from 1, as well as being able to count from any other number eg. 5
-10. Counting backwards is also targeted in this way as well. Children then progress to 20 forwards and backwards beginning at different numbers, then to 50 forwards only and 100 forwards and backwards. Children will progress to each stage at their own pace.
The Week That Was!
Well this was certainly a week of firsts for us. Our first whole school Mass was in the hall on Wednesday morning. Luckily the heat hadn't set in at that stage. By the afternoon when we went back to the hall for our first assembly the children were remarkably good considering it was the second long stint of sitting and listening. We also visited the library and were allowed to borrow a book. Excitement was everywhere! Please remember Library books are to be returned each Wednesday and remember those library bags too! We attended Music and PE lessons twice. We have been learning about how we can use our sense of sight, smell and hearing to keep us safe. We listened to the story of the Good Samaritan and how we can use our helping hands to help others. Oh and we made a prayer mat with everyone's hand print, which we love.
Thank goodness we have air-conditioning on these very hot days.
A reminder that the parent information night is on next Wednesday night at 6.30 pm in Prep White's room, with all the prep teachers. Then at 7.00 Mr Gallen will speak to all parents in the hall. Teachers then repeat the previous session at 7.30.
